Announcement

The All India Occupational Therapy Association (AIOTA) is pleased to present the draft proposal for standardized Recruitment Rules and Cadre Structure for Clinical Occupational Therapists across India. This proposal aims to establish a uniform career progression pathway and appropriate pay scales for occupational therapy professionals.

1. Occupational Therapist

Selection Process Direct Recruitment
Age Limit 32 years (Relaxable as per Govt. Norms)
Method of Recruitment 100% by Direct Recruitment
Probation Period 2 years
Qualifications Required
  • 10+2 in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from recognized Institute/University
  • Registration with existing Occupational Therapy Council/NCAHP

2. Senior Occupational Therapist

Classification Group A
Pay Scale Level 11 (₹67,700-2,08,700)
Selection Process Merit-cum-seniority
Age Limit 40 years
Method of Recruitment 100% by Promotion, failing which by Deputation
Probation Period No
Qualifications Required
  • 5 years regular service as Occupational Therapist
  • Minimum ACR assessment: Very Good

3. Superintending Occupational Therapist

Classification Group A
Pay Scale Level 12 (₹78,800-2,09,200)
Selection Process Merit-cum-seniority
Method of Recruitment 100% by Promotion, failing which by Deputation
Qualifications Required
  • 5 years regular service as Senior Occupational Therapist OR
  • 10 years service as Occupational Therapist
  • Professional Development Requirement (any one):
    • Short-term training/orientation programme once every five years, OR
    • Research publication once every five years in a journal of national standing
  • Minimum ACR assessment: Very Good

4. Chief Occupational Therapist

Classification Group A
Pay Scale Level 13 (₹1,23,100-2,15,900)
Selection Process Promotion
Method of Recruitment 100% by Promotion, failing which by Deputation
Qualifications Required
  • 5 years regular service as Superintending Occupational Therapist OR
  • 10 years service as Senior Occupational Therapist
  • MOT qualification
  • Professional Development Requirement (any one):
    • Short-term training/orientation programme once every five years, OR
    • Research publication once every five years in a journal of national standing
  • Minimum ACR assessment: Very Good

Important Notes

  1. All posts in the cadre are to be filled by 100% promotion only.
  2. All posts to be given TIME BOUND PROMOTION on completion of minimum years of requisite service.
  3. DYNAMIC ASSURED CAREER PROGRESSION (DACP) shall be applicable where an individual employee shall not be abstained from financial benefits due to absence of post or deserted post.
